The 2025 Jebsen PTC Principals Conference, held from March 12 to 14 in Balesin Island, Polillo, Quezon Province, was a pivotal gathering for maritime leaders committed to crew welfare. With the theme, “Stronger Together: A Shared Commitment Towards Crew Welfare,” the event underscored Jebsen PTC’s belief that the well-being of seafarers is a shared responsibility that thrives through strong collaboration among principals, shipping companies, and government authorities.

This year’s conference served as a platform for dialogue on pressing issues affecting seafarers, such as employment conditions, industry regulations, and the enactment of the Magna Carta of Filipino Seafarers (R.A. No. 12021). With participation from several of Jebsen PTC’s valued principals, the event demonstrated the strength of our partnerships and a mutual commitment to advancing the welfare of Filipino maritime professionals.
The event opened with a warm welcome as attendees arrived at St. Tropez Hospitality Area, received welcome kits, and connected over breakfast. A guided tour of the island and a relaxing lunch set the tone for meaningful interactions. The evening featured Welcome Cocktails hosted by Bjorn Jebsen, Chairman of the Board, followed by a ceremonial toast and dinner, reinforcing the spirit of camaraderie.

The second day took on a more interactive format, offering panel discussions with policy experts and industry leaders directly involved in the drafting of the Magna Carta for Filipino Seafarers. Opening messages from Jebsen PTC leadership reiterated the importance of industry collaboration in supporting maritime regulations and welfare programs. A conference recap highlighted progress from the previous year and established a foundation for continued improvement.
This year’s conference focused on the Magna Carta for Filipino Seafarers, including a review of its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR). Discussions focused on employment matters, legal protections, and seafarers’ rights. Experts from government and private maritime institutions shared their insights during these engaging forums.

The afternoon sessions explored the importance of quality education and training for cadets and active seafarers. Presentations emphasized institutional support in compliance, training standards, and seafarer development. In-depth conversations addressed medical and legal concerns, including disability grading, fitness to work, grievance mechanisms, and enforcement of labor judgments.
Closing the conference, Jebsen PTC’s leadership reaffirmed a unified vision: building a resilient and empowered maritime workforce through strategic cooperation, transparency, and continued engagement.
Through this conference, Jebsen PTC reasserts its role as a proactive partner in promoting seafarer welfare and upholding the highest standards of crew management. We invite more principals to work with us in our mission to deliver best-in-class solutions for the global maritime industry, while continuing to protect, uplift, and empower the Filipino seafarer.
