In celebration of the Day of the Seafarer, Jebsen PTC held this year’s program entitled “Kabaro Fiesta,” a tribute to the sacrifices, dedication, and invaluable contributions of our Global Maritime Professionals (GMPs) who help keep global trade moving despite the challenges and risks of life at sea. Inspired by the Filipino spirit of community and celebration, the fiesta theme brought fun and camaraderie to our GMPs across the Jebsen PTC offices in Makati, Cebu, and Iloilo.
At the Jebsen PTC Head Office in Makati, the celebration officially opened with a welcome message from Normie Hernandez, Family and Crew Relations Manager, who greeted the GMPs and shared the activities prepared for the occasion. This was followed by opening remarks from Thess Lunzaga, Vice President of Jebsen PTC Maritime, who emphasized that every crew member, regardless of rank, plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of vessels around the world. She also acknowledged the challenges and security risks faced by seafarers in today’s global environment and expressed gratitude for their bravery and resilience.
In keeping with the fiesta spirit, game booths were set up on the ground floor where GMPs enjoyed activities such as Bunny Race, Basket Bash, and Ball Roll. The games provided an opportunity for crew members to bond with fellow seafarers, have fun, and win exciting prizes while waiting for their appointments.
One of the highlights of the celebration was Jebsen PTC GMPs Got Talent, a singing competition that showcased the musical talents of our GMPs. Contestants captivated the audience with their performances, making the event a memorable and entertaining part of the festivities. Michael B. Tacuyan from Virgin Voyages, who performed If I Ever Fall in Love Again, emerged as the grand champion and received ₱2,500 worth of SM Gift Certificates courtest of PTC Insures along with a free training voucher from Philcamsat.
GMPs reporting to our offices were treated to Filipino favorites such as kakanin, coffee, and sorbetes as a simple token of appreciation for their hard work. Giveaways were also distributed to reporting crew that day.
Our Cebu and Iloilo satellite offices also prepared treats and activities for GMPs reporting there to ensure that the celebration was felt across all Jebsen PTC offices.
This year’s Day of the Seafarer celebration was organized by the Jebsen PTC Family and Crew Relations Team in partnership with BDO, PTC Insures, First Maritime Credit Corporation, ACM Homes, and Philcamsat.
