History and Heritage
Jebsen PTC, Inc. traces its roots from the Jebsens Group which was founded in 1929 when Kristian Jebsens Rederi was established as a family-owned shipping company in Bergen, Norway. In the late 70s, Jebsens partnered with the Bothelo Bulk Transport Company of the Philippines to charter vessels with Filipino seafarers. Upon retirement of the Bothelo owners, Jebsens began scouting for a reliable local partner.
The Aboitiz Group, a major diversified Philippine conglomerate, upon recommendation of Citibank, was chosen to seal the partnership. In 1982, Jebsen PTC, Inc. was born.
The strategy partnership between Jebsen and the Aboitiz Group flourished with international trading vessels and a large fleet of domestic ferries. In the 90s, Jebsen PTC, Inc. started to provide third-party crew management services. Within the same decade, it established a land-based manpower recruitment unit to send Filipino professionals overseas. In 2007, Jebsen PTC, Inc. started to provide third-party ship management services.
For over three decades, Jebsen PTC, Inc. has been partnering with various Principals as a one-stop-shop for maritime and crew management solutions. As a testament to the company’s commitment to quality services and innovative solutions, Jebsen PTC, Inc. obtained numerous laurels from the Philippine Government and industry organizations. It is a recognized POEA Hall of Famer and a proud recipient of the prestigious Presidential Award of Excellence. With Jebsen PTC, Inc.’s solid reputation, in 2014, Philippine Transmarine Carriers made a move to invest in the group as a shareholder – thereby cementing Jebsen PTC, Inc.’s position as a leading industry player.
In 2020, the company was named Jebsen PTC to reflect its expanding partnership with the PTC Group.
