MARINA has released a new advisory clarifying the rules on Basic Training (BT), Updating Training on BT-PSSR, and Revised Basic Training. Here’s what you need to know:
1. If you have a valid COP in Basic Training
You may continue boarding vessels while your certificate is still valid.
However, before renewing your COP, you must complete the Updating Training on BT-PSSR, together with other required documents.
2. If your COP in Basic Training is already expired
You are required to take the Revised Basic Training course before a new COP can be issued.
3. If you finished the BT course but never applied for a COP
Your next step depends on how long it has been since your training:
-
If more than 2 years have passed, you must take the Revised Basic Training.
-
If less than 2 years have passed, you only need to take the Updating Training on BT-PSSR.
